Our research
The Department hosts a diverse and internationally renowned group of academic economists.
The core areas of research are behavioral economics, development economics, environmental economics and financial economics. In addition, health economics, labour economics, industrial economics and public economics are growing in importance. The research is to a large extent published in highly ranked international journals.

Our ambition
The Department’s long-term ambition is to become one of the best economics departments in Europe. Successful recruitments are central for the development of the Department and the aim is always to attract the very best international researchers.
Paramount to the Department’s long-term strategy is that the research produced at the Department is of outstanding quality. Incentives are formulated accordingly and guidelines for promotion to associate professor and full professor emphasise the importance of publications in leading peer-reviewed journals.
Early career development
The Department works closely with its junior staff in order for their research skills to develop further. There is a mentor programme for all postdocs and tenure track senior lecturers, which covers all central aspects of early career development. Junior staff are given the appropriate possibilities to qualify for tenured positions by scheduling teaching so that the researchers get as much time as possible for research and by funding research visits and assisting with applications.
