Welcome to the doctoral pages at the Department of Economics! Here you find all useful information about being a doctoral student. We guide you through the doctoral studies – from admission to the public defence of your thesis and the PhD degree.
Being a doctoral student in economics is certainly a challenging and stimulating endeavor. We offer you studies in a truly international study environment, all courses are taught in English. The teachers are researchers in areas such as environmental economics, development economics, finance and behavioral economics.
The doctoral degree requires four years of study, consisting of two years of course work and two years of thesis work. The first year all courses are compulsory: mathematics, econometrics, microeconomic and macroeconomic theories. In the second year some courses are compulsory and others are elective within the main research areas of the department or outside.
Presently we have an intake of new students every second year. The next intake will be autumn 2018.
